Harvest Host Pink Bus

Brunswick Georgia February 27-28

On the way to Georgia I stopped at Buc-ee’s. It’s still a fun stop for nice potties, sweet junk foods and clean bathrooms but not as magical as the first time. Oh I still spent time leasurly exploring everything from the great sayings on gifts to a new delicious sandwhich which had turkey and a wonderful sauce. I cant find it on the menu so I will have to go again to clarify. There were flocks of loud grackles in the parking lot and one car was feeding them and had flocks on their car. Unfortunaetly they were parked next to me so I too had birds and poop.

So i stayed at my first harvest host in Brunswick Georgia. I parked in their driveway next to their pink Skoolie named “daisy”. She was wonderfully decorated in a beautiful color scheme and kinda rustic boehemian. I wish I had decorating sence and the space to do it. I had crocheted two nettted produce bags and i gave one to her as it reminded me of her color scheme.

Not being familiar with the area I asked about things to do. Shirley mentioned she was going to sell crafts at an event. Please, tell me more about the event. Well it was called “Brunswick rockin’ Stewbilee” sponsored by the kiwanas club featuring over 25 booths making Brunswick Stew trying to get the coveted brass bowl award. How can i describe the stew? It was more of a tomato based liqued(not at all stew-like) with pork bbq and other bits such as okra, potatoes, corn, lima beans and more. They varied from spicy to sweet and were actually quite yummy. When you registered you were given a spoon. You stop by each booth for a small sample and voted for your favorite two. There was lots of swag and costumes to entice votes. Besides stew there were craft vendors, food and very good live music. I was really glad I went. I bought feed bags that were stiched into tote bags they had so many options for animal theme besides cat and dog-horse, turkey and my favorite baby pigs. They had the usual crochet animals and one booth had 30 opposums hanging from their tent. I was lucky that the event was rescheduled from its normal date to this date just for me.

The hh site was in a quiet neighborhood and the driveway was flat and full sun. Luckily the temps were cool so it was nice to sleep.
