I woke up safe and alive at the VA Welcome Center and decided it would be nice to start the day off with a little walk through the preserve/dead body dumping area. There was a very very big cannon, a graveyard and an overlook to the marshes. I comically tried to climb the cannon in order to take a selfy of my Citizen Kane Rosebud imitation, but I could not manage to climb onto it.

And then I was off to the infamous Outer Banks (OBX).

I was so excited to find super cheap diesel gas just before Wright’s Bridge into OBX that I just had to take a photo.

Driving on the main thorough fair on OBX you cant help feel sad for all the commercialization and thousands of businesses. I did however notice a new Target and Cousin Beth told me they even got a Wawa.

I stopped at the Nags Head Woods Preserve hoping to find some bike trails. There were none so a took a hike through the beautiful trails.

Unfortunately, I got lost and after I had a little melt down, but I eventually found my way back after 3.5 miles.

The preserve was a nice area with ponds and pine needle lined paths. The ponds were filled with duck weed making them look like putting greens. The turtles did not seem to mind and there were a lot of them. I counted 22 in just one pond.

I left the preserve, found a much deserved ice cream store and had a $10 milk shake.

In about 2 hours I arrived at my camping site for the next two nights in Frisco, Nc. The campground is owned by the National Park Services and came recommended by my friend Tom. They have rustic sites, no water and electricity at the sites as well as non-heated(aka cold) showers. The ocean is a short walk and you can hear the waves from your campsite. I was site P8

Speaking of cold showers. I had worked up a sweat biking around the camp and beach and I could smell myself so it was time to brave the cold shower. There was much whooping and yelling but I did it. Afterwards, as I went to turn off the cold water, I found a Peeping Tom!
