Wednesday June 4.
I continued on to Freeport Maine for some shopping.
At LL Bean there was a purple carbon paddle that had my name on it. It is super lightweight AND pretty.

The real reason I was excited for Freeport Shopping was Fjallraven. They are a Swedish outdoor apparel company.

They make my favorite hiking pants, the Keb. Which retail for $250!! I usually buy them at Sierra Trading Post but they have limited sizes and colors. It was fantastic to find them in Freeport.

In Freeport there was a patagonia “outlet”. But it was disappointing as most stuff was at regular retail price. Booo Patagonia.

I booked a camlsite nearby with Hipcamp.

Hipcamp is a site that offers camping spots on private land. I’ve booked a few times as a last minute site on evenings that I had no reservations. Its easy to locate places and they can be cheap. Most do not have bathrooms or showers and usually have a large jug of water and a latrine. Some places are fancier than others.
The site i stayed at in Freeport was a field behind a barn and was only $18.

As i sat at my campfire I heard some animal tromping thru the woods. It sounded big! It was a porcupine! And no, they dont shoot their quills.
I was tired and hungry and tend to get lazy when it comes to cooking dinner. So I took my mountain pie maker and cooked a hamburger in it. I figured it was just the same as a cast iron pan. After my burger was cooked I put my almond flour gf tortillas around the burger and put it back in the fire. I thought it worked well.
