May 12..The start of Steve and my advanture to meet Cory and Dags in Land Between Lakes National Recreation Area in Kentucky.
With less than 20 more of the 124 Pennsylvania state parks left to visit to complete my Pa State Park Passport book we began the trip with intentions to get some more pa state park visits done.
We took the scenic route west thru Pennsylvania which brought us past some interesting places like Mr. Ed’s Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium somewhere near Chambersburg.

Steve found the perfect candy-Buckeyes. We had never heard of them. They appear to be made of a lump of peanut butter dipped in chocolate.

After a quick walk thru the museum which was a hallway full of every kind of elephant statue and toy imaginable

we took some photos and were out of there in 15 minutes.

Mr. Ed’s was ok. I wouldn’t make a special trip to visit but it was a cute rest stop.
After 7 hours of scenic driving we arrived at Shawnee State Park in Bedford County.

We used the honor system envelope and picked a site. There were about 6 rvs in the electric sites and nobody else. We had the campground to ourselves.

And then the rains came so we fashioned a tarp awning.
